Brad came recommended by our next-door neighbors. We asked him for investigation and an opinion on our three-plus- story stucco house that was slowly collapsing onto its northwest corner. Brad quickly found the pinhole leak below where the top deck drain exited, spilling rain behind the stucco for the last 20+ years. He advised removal of the stucco on each side of the corner, top to bottom, and rebuild of the framing as needed. He made no promises, but gave us an estimate and his opinions that seemed in line with the work and the possibilities that could prove far more invasive.
It soon became obvious that Brad and his crew were both competent and efficient. His diagnoses proved accurate and his experience kept surprises to a minimum. What little knowledge I had of construction and building mechanics confirmed Brad knew what he was doing and was working to stay within his estimate.
At some point we had the confidence to trust Brad with several "while you're at it" add-ons. He never disappointed on the work he performed. While there are problems in any substantial renovation project, we were quite pleased with the progress and timely completion of the work. A competent, reliable and honest contractor is a find. Van Every Construction sub-contracted to us at our Oakwalk project in Emeryville from Oct 07- March 08. Scope of work involved moving 6 existing buildings for soil remediation, relocating 5 of them to permanent sites, and providing new foundations. VEC then performed engineered seismic retrofitting when attaching the structures to the foundations. The 6th building was moved to another sight and VEC performed the engineered shoring and anchoring. Van Every Construction delivered an excellent product on time. The owner was on site daily to assure quality and safety. Van Every Construction’s ability to anticipate and derail potentially costly issues added value to our bottom line. This sub contractor worked efficiently and effectively. We highly recommend Van Every Construction.
